This is a screening of Tamo Campos’ newest film “A Last Stand for Lelu” about the occupation of Lelu Island in Prince Rupert. The Lax Kw’alaams clan and the rest of the occupants are protecting the vital grounds around Lelu island from the proposed construction of an LNG plant that would ruin the land and water, devastating the wild salmon and the rest of the Skeena Watershed.
After the short film, The Racket, an alternative rock trio, new to Vancouver, will perform for the rest of the night.
THE RACKET grew up in the Bulkey Valley and has supported the protection of crucial habitats their whole lives. They recently played a benefit concert in Terrace, raising money for the occupants of Lelu Island. They now live in Burnaby but where ever thay live they want to to what they can to support their northern allies in the fight against corporate greed.
